Congressional Staff

Can we DOGE Congressional staffing?

Short but sweet.

I've read that each US House seat is allowed 18 full time staff and 4 part time staff.
I've read that each US Senate seat has between 30 - 50 staffers.
This seems like a good time to engage in 'best practices', to see how many staffers each Congress-seat really needs.

I've read that before the Civil War, Congressmen had no private offices, nor any paid staff.
And now we have staffers bringing the Senators coffee, and likely running their personal errands, eh?

And is it possible that some staffers are just embedded lobbyists?
