It's one thing to do what you love,
but... what will it cost, and what will it pay?

First, calculate what it will cost to get the education to do what you really want to do,
at the level of authority you want to exert. Then calculate if your dream job will pay 
you a living wage, so you won't have to moonlight.

Many people want to be librarians, but few of them want to be entry-level librarians forever.
And here is a first bit of job-smarts: Promotions into management are not automatic.
Professional promotions mean one degree competing against other degrees.
