VOTING
Christians and the US Government
Some Christians are uncomfortable mixing faith and politics.
And many liberals hate that Christians vote, and some would like to ban Christians from voting.
Liberals try to infer that Christianity and politics don't mix.
Wrong.
Here are a few portions of New Testament scripture that speak to Christianity & citizenship.
Romans 13:
1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
1 Peter 2:
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
1 Timothy 2:
1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Mark 12:
13 Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words.
14 They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God
in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?
15 Should we pay or shouldn’t we?” But Jesus knew their hypocrisy.
"Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.”
16 They brought the coin, and he asked them,
“Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they replied.
17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”
And they were amazed at him.

After all this scripture, who can imagine that God wouldn't want us to vote?
How can anyone imagine God doesn't want our votes used - to put the best possible people
into positions that govern our cites, our counties, our States and our Nation?
Meritocracy.
"But all the candidates have flaws. Isn't it wrong to vote for someone with flaws,
to help put an imperfect person into office?"
You are being nonsensical.
1) The best-yet-imperfect candidates will govern the best - of those available.
If you vote for the best available candidate, you help to purify the system.
2) Husbands, when you wanted a wife for your own sexual reasons, you married an imperfect
female for your own purposes. If you had looked at women the same way you look at
political candidates, you would have castrated yourselves and completely shunned marriage.
But, no.....
3) The same thing can be said of Christian women who marry a man who was less than perfect. Perfect people don't exist; we have to choose from the best available options.
A lot of Christian women settle for a lot less than they really want, just to get to the altar.
(But often, both husbands and wives get better than we really deserve, eh?)
Figuratively speaking, Christians politically castrate themselves when they refuse to vote.
They are Constitutional eunuchs - politically-infertile people who cannot help American leadership be a voice for what is good and proper, what is right and just.
I am ashamed of Christians who do not vote, as I 'm sure the apostles would be.
Paul treasured and exercised his rights as a Roman citizen,
which helped him spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Religious men who don't vote - forfeit the opportunity to keep their women and children safer
from the abuse that predators inflict - behaviors that liberals want to decriminalize.
And qualified Christians who won't consider running for office are like those
who pass by the wounded and don't try to help.
