Estrangement Homicide

ESTRANGEMENT HOMICIDE

An undercurrent for murder...

I watch a lot of crime shows. I see one factor in murder that is under-discussed.
While we talk about husbands who kill because they don't want to share their wealth,
and wives who kill to keep from losing access to the wealthy husband's money,
we see very little attention given to financially poor, often underperforming people - who kill - because a romantic estrangement will cause their actual, real, immediate homelessness.

There are men who don't pay their own rent or just pay half the rent -
if their romantic connection dies, they will be actually homeless.
And a lot of unmarried women do the same.
I wish crime show hosts would probe this aspect of murders a little deeper.
How many more people would be alive if every breakup came with a housing plan?
It would save lives.

So many men have a place to live only because a woman helps provide it. They may pretend that they are pulling the whole load, but that is often a lie. A man hit with a surprise breakup -
is often hit with the second the second barrel of bad news -
that they will also lose their habitation. Layer upon layer of difficulty piles on them.
And this brings a deep social shame - of proving they can't provide for themselves.

Am I soliciting pity for them? No, but a lot of detours are suddenly dropped onto their roadmap.
I think more partners would survive their breakup if the breaker-upper would be the one to vacate, at least for a time, to help the other one get their bearings - rather than lashing out, not only for a relationship, but also for a place to sleep that night.
Too many times, romantic eviction literally means an immediate housing eviction.

And yes, this might be a real issue in patricide events,
For many adult offspring, parental estrangement = immediate homelessness.
I wonder if this was a factor in the Reiner Event.
